Specific Industries, Specific Material Choices
The chemical processing industry presents a range of unique valve challenges due to its vast array of corrosive environments. While carbon steels and basic stainless steels, such as 316ss, work well in other industries, increased corrosion resistance is often necessary for these challenging service conditions.
Austenitic stainless steels (300 series), such as 317, 321 and 347, are regularly utilized to meet those requirements. Additionally, nickel “superalloys”, such as Hastelloy® and Inconel, are often found where a combination of high-strength and very high-corrosion resistance is required.
